Meet Dave

Dave was born in New Kensington, PA, and moved to Culver City, California with his family when he was in Jr High. He played football at Santa Monica City College, and transferred to Long Beach State University, where he met his wife, Carolyn, They married after graduation in 1965, and both taught school in Orange Co, CA for over 30 years. During his teaching career, Dave worked at UCLA one year, teaching at their University Elementary School. He also worked in administration as a teaching vice principal, counselor, and coach of middle school and high school basketball. During summer vacations, he drove a cement truck, worked in the oil fields, taught summer school, and was a playground director. He and Carolyn began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the 1970’s.
Dave and Carolyn began camping with their two young daughters at the Metolius River in Camp Sherman in Central OR in 1974, and discovered Bend at that time. That led to an almost yearly visit to Bend for many years, until they finally moved here when they retired in 2000. They joined New Hope Church shortly thereafter, and have taught Sunday school, led several Small Groups, and taught the new member classes. Dave has served on the Pastor Parish team for 15 years, as well as serving as an usher.
Dave and Carolyn just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary, and have two adult daughters, and three grandchildren. Dave enjoys playing golf, working out at the gym, and Cowboy action shooting.
